Dr. Ada Becker in her book Raising a Sociable Child opens and says “We do not educate, we behave”
Our behavior is meaningful learning for our child.
“Mom ???????? ♀️ I have a question” My middle son used to say at least once a day,
“Yes, Omar, what is the question?” I answer (usually with half attention when I am busy with something else)
And usually surprised ???? From the question and continues “Where did you get this from now?” ???? ♀️
And understand .. that I have to vacate and answer seriously ????????????
He has already asked me about the wedding, the acquaintance with the spouse, of which of the children the birth was the most difficult and more
He asks intriguingly about topics that interest him
But most of the time from here a fascinating conversation develops that rolls into various topics.
The kids ask questions that interest them and it’s cute and innocent
And we ask our child questions out of a desire to know and get to know their world.
Both sides are driven by curiosity.
What else…
I believe that in these conversations there is more learning than anything else
Because through discourse we learn about our behaviors and ways of acting, as parents.
Remember what Dr. Ada Becker says, “We do not educate, we behave.”
